From Outdated to High-Performance

From pest-damaged shed to modern agricultural storage facility

Transforming an ageing farm shed into a modern, energy-efficient storage facility was a huge success for Tayler Farms, thanks to NZ Foam insulation.

The existing shed had reached the end of its useful life as a storage space. The original polystyrene insulation had deteriorated over time, with rats nesting throughout the walls and leaving behind contamination and damage. Thermal performance was poor, temperature control was inconsistent, and the building no longer met the standards required for reliable produce storage.

Rather than replacing the entire structure, Tayler Farms chose to retrofit the shed. Following consultation with NZ Foam insulation, the old insulation was removed and the building was upgraded with high-performance closed-cell spray foam throughout.

The result was a complete transformation. The seamless insulation system eliminated gaps and air leakage, delivered exceptional thermal performance, and created a cleaner, more hygienic environment free from the issues associated with the previous polystyrene system. The spray foam also added rigidity to the structure and provided a long-term solution designed to withstand the demanding agricultural environment.

Today, what was once an underperforming, pest-damaged shed has become a fully insulated, high-performance storage facility. By upgrading rather than rebuilding, Tayler Farms gained a cost-effective solution that maximised the value of the existing asset while ensuring reliable performance for years to come.

The result: an old, compromised building brought back to life as a modern, efficient storage facility capable of meeting the demands of a progressive Canterbury farming operation.

Bringing new life to an ageing farm shed

What was once a pest-damaged farm shed is now a modern, energy-efficient storage facility. NZ Foam helped Tayler Farms retrofit the existing structure with closed-cell spray foam, improving thermal performance, hygiene, and reliability. By upgrading rather than rebuilding, Tayler Farms extended the life of a valuable asset while securing long-term performance.
