Why you should choose sprayfoam

Spray foam insulation is the most effective and efficient insulation in the market.

Heat loss and overcooling are major contributors to residential energy consumption; effective insulation mitigates these losses by reducing heat transfer.

Enjoy homes that stay warmer and more comfortable in every season.

Wire: Safe & Compliant

Is it ok for NZ Foam insulation to be in contact with wiring or does the wiring need to be conduited? Like how polystyrene reacts with wiring insulation?

The issue with Polystyrene and TPS wiring is caused by the migration of plasticisers between the two products.
As NZ Foam Insulation has no plasticisers in the formulation there are no related issues.
We have a letter from General Cable confirming their findings.

Can I pull additional wiring through without opening up the wall and cutting it?

Due to the high R-value achieved we typically don’t need to fill the entire cavity – therefore there is normally a gap between the insulation and the internal linings. This allows for a draw wire to be used to retrofit wiring.
Also unlike other insulation products this process will not accidentally disturb the insulation therefore not compromise the thermal barrier.
You can add wires once spray foam is installed and linings on.
Not like most other insulation, where if you drill down the wall. Once you drill down the wool or Fireglass will wrap around the drill bite creating a cavity. Then you remove the drill pulling up the wool or Fibreglass and then creates another cavity.
NZ Foam insulation will not do any of these things. You drill a hole and push a wire down. Not affecting the integrity of the spray foam insulati

Fire: Self-Extinguishing

Is spray foam combustible?

Technically, yes – it combusts at 408 degrees celsius!!

Our foam meets all fire requirements under the building code and has been tested and complies with AS 1366.

How does spray foam rate in a house fire? When it burns, does it give off dangerous gases like polystyrene does?

Like all thermal insulation products, spray foam is combustible. This is why it’s compulsory to have a fire-rated lining such as a plaster board.

Spray foam insulation is known as a “self-extinguishing” product. If a fire source is introduced it will burn and char. If the source is removed the foam will no longer continue to burn.

Like most building products such as carpet, floor vinyl, furniture and even the timber framing; spray foam insulation will give off various gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide once the fire has reached the foam.

Normally by the time the fire actually reaches the foam, it is well established and the occupants have been evacuated.

Every home already has products like carpet, vinyl flooring, fibreglass batts, and various material furnishings that also give off toxic fumes if burnt. Our product is no more or less dangerous in this respect.

Human & Environment: Friendly

Is spray foam insulation bad for the environment?

Our product is made of 20% recycled content, can save homes up to 40% on their monthly energy bills, is non-allergenic, dust and fibre-free, and will last the lifetime of the building it is installed in to.

Compared to all other insulation products on the market, it is the most sustainable and has the smallest impact on the environment.

Does spray foam let off any odour or toxic gas long term?

No – once installed it is completely odourless.

Our spray foam insulation is also certified GREENGUARD Gold by global safety science leader, UL. Products that have achieved GREENGUARD Certification are scientifically proven to meet some of the world’s most rigorous third-party chemical emissions standards, helping to reduce indoor air pollution and the risk of chemical exposure.

What is the form made up of?

Our spray foam has several main ingredients which have been chosen due to their quality and low environmental impact.

The main base product is oil. The oil is derived from two main source materials:
• Soya oil: Grown annually in arid areas and of no value as a food crop
• Recycled plastic: Mainly bottles, which make up over 20% of the product.

The final main ingredient is the hardener; which once combined with the other ingredients, is almost instantly transformed into a chemically inert, stable and PH-neutral insulation product that will not reduce in performance over the life time of the building.

The international Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance has led our industry to accurately determine the environmental impacts of Spray Polyurethane Foam insulation materials.  In 2013, an industry-level, ISO-compliant life cycle assessment (LCA) was completed.  This study led to the development of environmental product declarations (EPDs).  Compliant with ISO requirements, this study was updated in 2018.
